Correct positioning plays a crucial role in how accurate and precise an eye-tracker is. It can also help users with glasses who struggle with tracking. We have a separate page for that.

\uD83D\uDCD8 Instructions

The following instructions should help you improve your positioning and hopefully result in an excellent user experience with Skyle.

  1. Please make sure the device is on the same height as your head.

  2. Make sure that the angle of your head corresponds to the angle of the device.

  3. Make sure that you position yourself in the center of the camera. Horizontal centering is more important than vertical centering.

Warning

This does not work! Hence, the guided view will show nothing.

Note

This may work but is not recommended!

Tip

This works and is recommended!

Tip

Your positioning should be improved now and Skyle should be more than capable of tracking you accurately, precisely and with a high robustness.

Keep the correct distance

As we explained before, it is important to sit centrally in front of the iPad. Now we have to find the right distance. The recommended distance is between 50 and 60 cm. As you may have noticed, there are distance indicators that show you if you are sitting too far away, or too close.

Tip

These are calculated indicators. Depending on the user, they may differ, so that an optimal position can be found not only by this.

Also try a slightly closer distance if your current position is not working.

Additional quick tip

If there are further jumps or inaccuracy, try to reduce the distance to the device. In addition, you can also try to position yourself at the top or bottom of the screen and perform a new calibration.
