Setup iPadOS 15

Before using Skyle, iPadOS needs to be setup correctly. Please follow these steps carefully to setup iPadOS correctly. You can also find these instructions in the Skyle X App when you first open it or go to Settings → Setup.

 Instructions

The following steps are necessary to setup Skyle correctly! Please make sure Skyle is connected to your iPad and that the two red LEDs are glowing.

  1. Go to the Settings App of your iPad, select “General”, “Trackpad & Mouse” and make sure the slider of “Tracking Speed” is set to the lowest value possible.

  2. Next we setup AssistiveTouch. Go to “Accessibility“, “Touch“, “AssistiveTouch“ and switch “AssistiveTouch“ on. You also need to scroll down and set the slider of “Tracking Sensitivity“ to the lowest value possible. Switch “Dwell Control“ on, go to “Movement Tolerance“ and set the value of the slider to about half. You can also alter the speed of clicking. We chose 1,5 seconds here but depending on the skill of the user you sould change that value.

  3. Now we setup the pointer with which the user interacts with iPadOS. Go to “Accessibility“, “Pointer“ and switch “Pointer Animations“ off. This is very important, since this could cause an offset in eye-tracking over time. Also increase the “Pointer Size“ to about half of the slider value so that the center point appears.

  4. Optionally, you can change the color of the pointer and its border width.

  5. We also recommend changing the iPadOS to dark mode since the bright display may cause the size of the pupil to change which could influence the accuracy and precision of Skyle.

Now that you have gone through the setup of iPadOS, Skyle should work properly.
